Pretty Parlor
This is my friendly neighborhood go-to place for all my waxing needs. I love this place because they’re so efficient, fast, painless — and it’s super cute to boot! They recently expanded in size and moved into a larger space within the same building. It’s exciting to watch a local business grow like that. Now they have even more space to decorate with cute things! Also love the complimentary sparkling wine they give me every time I visit.

My Apartment

Delayed putting these pictures up for awhile, but here it is! My place.

Pink Elephant Thai

I’m a sucker for anything pink. Normally, I hate eating out at Thai restaurants because nothing could ever compare to mom’s home-cooking. However, when things are too far gone to even be considered authentic, I’m a little more open-minded— hence, how we ended up at Pink Elephant Thai. It felt like I was eating inside a Christina Aguilera music video circa 2000, which if you know me, was totally right up my alley.

The Loden Hotel

I described the last hotel I stayed at (The Keating in San Diego) as being an upscale locker room. The atmosphere and aesthetic of the Loden was very different— in fact, I’ve decided it can best be described as modern Mad Men. I say that because of the combination of wood paneling and rectangular, geometric mid-century modern furniture mixed with mirrors, frosted glass, and the floor-to-ceiling window panes so characteristic of Vancouver.

The Loden has ridiculously good reviews across a board of sites (Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc…) and lives up to the hype. The room was incredibly spacious, not just because of the illusion of the mirrored wall. Everything felt new, sparkly, crisp, and clean. The bed was actually comfortable and the staff attentive enough to warmly greet you every time you re-entered the hotel. The location was also decent— perhaps not in the most bustling of neighborhoods but certainly in a very peaceful area which was walkable to other, more exciting parts of Vancouver.

Frog’s Leap Vineyard
This was my favorite place we visited in Napa. I love the table settings (oh my god, am I a 40 year old housewife?) and at least 3 out of the 4 wines we tasted. It was $20 for a flight of four, and they did give us a glass of rosé on the house and lots of cheese and nuts to snack on. I bought a bottle of their Chardonnay to take home!

Alex’s Gold Rush Steakhouse @ The Madonna Inn
View from the lobby— I told you, it’s Disney’s fairytale princess crack house up in here.

Alex’s Gold Rush Steakhouse @ The Madonna Inn
So, there exists this ridiculous place in SLO called The Madonna Inn. These are pictures taken from inside their steakhouse— it’s basically like they hired a Disney Princess as their decorator and I mean that in the best way. The Madonna Inn is a total tourist trap but sometimes doing stupid shit like that is a lot of fun. The food was okay and overpriced but hearing Rob comment on how “this is what people in Britain imagine America to be like…” was pretty priceless.

Home Sweet Home
Probably the best shot of my living room so far. Really love my frame-college-wall. I’m thinking about doing something similar in my bedroom above my desk because I have more prints than I really know what to do with. Also thinking of getting a simple curtain or valance for that window in the living room.
