Gaeng Massaman Gai & Garlic Eggplant
Two delicious dishes! Why are eggplants so freaking tasty and why did I not know that before this year?

Pink Elephant Thai

I’m a sucker for anything pink. Normally, I hate eating out at Thai restaurants because nothing could ever compare to mom’s home-cooking. However, when things are too far gone to even be considered authentic, I’m a little more open-minded— hence, how we ended up at Pink Elephant Thai. It felt like I was eating inside a Christina Aguilera music video circa 2000, which if you know me, was totally right up my alley.

Firefly Restaurant in Noe Valley
This is where Rob & I went for our dinner out after a week of staying in and cooking. New American cuisine with portions that were just the right size that we could justify ordering dessert. It’s also named after one of my favorite television shows, heh!

View from the lobby— I told you, it’s Disney’s fairytale princess crack house up in here.

Alex’s Gold Rush Steakhouse @ The Madonna Inn
So, there exists this ridiculous place in SLO called The Madonna Inn. These are pictures taken from inside their steakhouse— it’s basically like they hired a Disney Princess as their decorator and I mean that in the best way. The Madonna Inn is a total tourist trap but sometimes doing stupid shit like that is a lot of fun. The food was okay and overpriced but hearing Rob comment on how “this is what people in Britain imagine America to be like…” was pretty priceless.

The Sentinel Building
So, I’ve always proclaimed the Sentinel Building as my favorite piece of architecture in San Francisco. I love the color, the vintage feel, the rounded dome at the top, the triangle shape. The way it represents something of the past in the otherwise more modern and sky-scraper filled financial district (it does sit right next to the Transamerica Pyramid). I’ve always been intrigued by the restaurant at the bottom so Rob took me there for my birthday dinner! When doing research on the restaurant, I discovered some crazy things— like the fact that the building and restaurant are owned by the Coppola family and that a part of the Godfather was in fact written in that very cafe. Yes, my favorite movie of all time was written by my favorite family in film in my favorite building. Yes, I was dorking out inside all over the place over this fact.
