Darwin Cafe
Darwin Cafe is one of my favorite work-lunch spots in San Francisco. I’ve even been back about three times since I’ve been funemployed because I love it so much. It’s one of the few restaurants that gets me actually excited to eat a salad!
Ladies’ Night @ West of Pecos
Absolutely loved this restaurant because it reminded me so much of home! Most of the Mexican food in San Francisco falls on one extreme of the spectrum: either very authentic or super “Californian” style meaning things are more fresh, less spicy, a bit lighter in fare. Tex-Mex is entirely different from both of those and it’s what I grew up on. I’d describe it as zesty, cheesy goodness. Tons of queso and LOTS of pepper plus a little bit of BBQ. Anyway, I was digging’ the western ambiance and branding and definitely digging into my steak covered in CHEESE!

Beyond Wonderland Bay Area
Back in late September my best friend and I spontaneously decided to go to this rave in Oakland with two guys we had just recently become friends with. I hadn’t been to a rave since high school and doing so now at 24 seemed a little out of character but I ended up having an amazing time. It was also the beginnings of a little romance, so note to self, always be open minded because you never know what will happen.

Flower Shop in Cow Hollow, San Francisco
Stable Cafe
Despite living just a few blocks of Stable Cafe in the Mission for 1.5 years, I never actually tried this place out. Such a shame, because it’s actually pretty great! Their menu offers a variety of paninis with different fillings and the classic ‘put an egg on it’ option. The coffee is pretty good but beyond anything the outdoor patio just makes for an idyllic lunch on a sunny day.
Foster The People @ The Greek Theatre
This was one of the bigger and better concerts I went to this year. They were phenomenal and so much fun! I loved their set and was actually able to get up to the pit and bounce around with my best friend.
Skrillex Show @ Outside Lands
A few weekends ago I got a last minute ticket to the last day of Outside Lands. I had never been before and since the opportunity presented itself I thought… why not? I arrived on my own before meeting up with friends and got to experience Franz Ferdinand, Regina Spektor, Santigold, Bloc Party (disappointment), Stevie Wonder, and Skrillex. While his music is probably as low-brow as it goes, I have to admit I had an amazing time at the Skrillex show. It was just a big dance party, and since it’s Skrillex it’s not like anyone had the right to act pretentious about it (as some people did at some of the acts).
Pretty Parlor
This is my friendly neighborhood go-to place for all my waxing needs. I love this place because they’re so efficient, fast, painless — and it’s super cute to boot! They recently expanded in size and moved into a larger space within the same building. It’s exciting to watch a local business grow like that. Now they have even more space to decorate with cute things! Also love the complimentary sparkling wine they give me every time I visit.
